Fatal Motorcycle Accident Statistics

Making up only 3% of registered cars and 0.6% of vehicle kilometers traveled, motorcyclists were found to be responsible for 14% of traffic deaths in 2020, 18% of occupant fatalities, and 4% of occupant injuries, according to the National Safety Council. These deaths can be prevented by simply wearing a helmet.

There were 23% more deaths for every 100 million vehicle kilometers driven in 2020 than in 2019. Over the past decade, the death rate has climbed by 27%, while the total death toll has increased by 20%. Currently, for every 100,000 vehicle kilometers traveled, there are 5,579 fatalities (a rate of 31.64).

Motorbike registrations in California are the highest in the United States, reaching 785,424. Motorcycle riders account for about 88% of the state’s traffic fatalities and injuries. About 6 percent of these fatalities may be attributed to accidents in which no helmet was used.

The numbers back up our claim that getting back on two wheels after a motorbike crash is more difficult than doing so after a car crash. Driving a four-wheeled vehicle is more secure and less complicated than a two-wheeled one. Think about the unique set of skills required for riding a motorcycle safely.
