[12-08-2023] Marin County, CA – Elderly Driver Killed, Another Injured Following Two-Vehicle Collision Along Highway 101 in Novato

An elderly driver was killed and another was injured following a two-vehicle collision in Novato early Friday evening, December 8, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal collision happened around 5:15 p.m. along Highway 101, south of Alameda del Prado.

A male driver in his 70s from Novato pulled off his Volkswagen sedan along the highway when a Mazda sedan went straight into the right shoulder and struck the Volkswagen driver.

The Novato resident died at the scene, while the Mazda driver, identified as a Calistoga resident in his 60s, sustained minor injuries.

The authorities have dismissed DUI as a factor, but investigations are still ongoing. The fatal collision prompted two lanes to be temporarily closed off for an hour.
