Five people were injured following a major collision involving a semi-truck in Turlock on Friday afternoon, December 10, 2021.

A Kia Forte ran a stop sign and crashed into a big rig. The Kia was traveling at 60 to 70 mph at the time of the accident. The Kia then struck a wooden pole after the initial collision. Meanwhile, the semi-truck damaged a fence and a tree.

Five people were injured due to the crash, including a 16-year-old girl. Two victims were identified, 21-year-old Dakotah A. and 21-year-old Sasha P.

Dakota sustained broken ribs and a broken arm; she was rushed to the Doctors Medical Center, where she was listed in critical condition.

Meanwhile, Sasha suffered a broken leg. A sixteen-year-old girl that was with them sustained facial cuts. All three of them were occupants of the Kia.

The big rig driver, identified as 23-year-old Carlos Salazar M., sustained minor injuries and complained of head back and knee pain.

The Kia driver reportedly broke her neck in the accident. Authorities later determined that the Kia driver was under the influence at the time of the accident.

She was identified as 23-year-old Linzy G. She was arrested on suspicion of an alcohol-related DUI. the case is under further investigation.
