[12-10-2022] One Killed, Another Injured in Rural Marin Head-On CollisionOne person was killed and another was injured following a head-on collision in rural Marin County on Saturday afternoon, December 10, 2022.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash involving two vehicles occurred shortly before 1:22 p.m. on Point Reyes Petaluma Road near Hicks Valley Road.

Initial inquiry revealed that the road was wet when the crash happened, which involved a northbound 1999 Honda Accord and a southbound 2000 Subaru Impreza.

The Subaru driver lost control of his car and veered into the northbound traffic, directly into the lane of the Honda. The Subaru’s passenger side clashed with the Honda’s front.

The 22-year-old Petaluma male driver of the Subaru succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at the scene. The 58-year-old Olema Honda driver was taken to a nearby hospital after suffering significant but non-life-threatening injuries.

They were the only people involved. Their identifications were withheld pending notification of the families.

According to the CHP representative, there is no indication that the collision was caused by drugs or alcohol at this time.
