Fatal DUI Accident Statistics

When someone is under the influence of alcohol or drugs while behind the wheel, there is a much higher chance of an accident occurring that can cause severe or fatal injuries.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, drunk driving causes about 10,000 deaths each year in the United States. Drug usage is involved in about 18% of all vehicle-related fatalities.

Drunk driving is a major contributor to the 30,000 annual injuries and 2,000 annual fatalities that result from car accidents in California. According to the age of the driver and the type of vehicle they were operating, the fine for driving under the influence might be several thousand dollars.
