[12-17-2022] Monterey County, CA – 26-Year-Old Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident involving Tesla in King City

Authorities said a 26-year-old man was killed in a pedestrian crash caused by a Tesla in King City on Saturday evening, December 17, 2022.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred after 9:30 p.m. along Highway 101 south of Teague Avenue.

The Tesla Model 3 reportedly traveled south on 101 at 70 mph when the driver struck the man from King City.

The driver pulled over and noticed damage to his car’s right front fender and side mirror. Upon checking his onboard video recorder, the man was shown running and erratically waving his arms toward the vehicle.

The victim was treated by an EMS team, but he passed away from his wounds on the spot. He was not identified by the CHP.

Officials claimed there was no reason to believe that the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.

Investigations into the crash are still ongoing.
