[12-21-2021] Mendocino County, CA – One Person Killed, Three Others Injured After a DUI Crash in Ukiah

Three people were hurt following a suspected DUI car crash in Ukiah on Tuesday evening, December 21, 2021.

[12-21-2021] Mendocino County, CA - One Person Killed, Three Others Injured After a DUI Crash in UkiahThe accident transpired at approximately 6:43 p.m. on Talmage Road, just east of Hastings Road in Ukiah.

An eastbound 2001 Chevy Malibu traveled on Talmage Road when it crossed over the center median, drove into the westbound lanes, and collided head-on with a westbound 2019 Ford Fusion.

Due to the severity of the impact, both vehicles sustained major damage. Emergency personnel later arrived at the scene and found that one of the occupants inside the involved vehicles was unresponsive.

The Chevy driver and one of his passengers were trapped in the wreckage and were extricated by emergency personnel. They sustained moderate injuries and were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Unfortunately, one passenger inside the Chevy was killed in the crash. Meanwhile, the other driver also sustained moderate injuries and was immediately taken to Adventist Health Ukiah Valley.

Authorities later determined that the Chevy driver was under the influence at the time of the accident. The DUI driver was identified as 35-year-old Ezequiel G. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Local authorities are further investigating the case. Witnesses that can give more information about the crash are urged to call the Ukiah CHP office at 707-467-4420.
