[12-23-2022] Driver, Two Pedestrians Hospitalized After Driver Allegedly had SeizureA driver and two pedestrians were hospitalized following a car crash caused by the driver, who may have had a seizure, in San Diego on Friday afternoon, December 23, 2022.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the collision, first between two vehicles and then with two pedestrians, occurred at 12:54 p.m. on F Street and 16th Street in the East Village neighborhood.

An Audi A3 was rear-ended on westbound 1600 F Street by a 36-year-old man driving a Ford F-150 who had just exited State Route 94. The 50-year-old Audi driver was rear-ended once more as it slowed to a stop and turned into 16th Street southbound.

The Ford driver continued along 16th Street and struck and injured a 44-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman walking on the west sidewalk.

Both pedestrians and the Ford driver were transported to a nearby hospital by emergency personnel. The man suffered a lower left leg open fracture, while the woman had life-threatening neurological damage. The driver most likely suffered a seizure during the crash.

There is no report on the other driver’s condition, and all their identities were withheld by the authorities as the investigation into the crash continues.
