[12-26-2022] Two-Vehicle Crash in Bakersfield Kills One and Hospitalizes AnotherOne person was killed and another was hospitalized following a two-vehicle collision in Bakersfield on Monday morning, December 26, 2022.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the fatal crash occurred shortly before 7:00 a.m. on a southbound Coffee Road overpass north of Brimhall Road.

Initial investigation revealed that a man from a stopped gardening truck was replacing a tire when an SUV struck him. An occupant of the truck was taken to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries, while the man was killed.

The SUV driver stayed at the scene and was cooperative with the authorities. Alcohol and drug use did not contribute to the crash. Speed and the foggy weather may have instead played a role.

The crash caused the closure of the southbound lanes of Coffee Road as the investigation by the police continued.
