Four people were killed following a fatal plane crash near El Cajon on Monday evening, December 27, 2021.

A Learjet 35A business jet left the John Wayne Airport and arrived at Gillespie Field airport. Unfortunately, the plane crashed into a residential area near El Cajon for unclear reasons.

The plane reportedly clipped power lines in the area and caught fire. All four occupants of the plane were killed in the crash.

One home was seriously damaged, and debris initially knocked out power to more than 2,500 San Diego Gas & Electric customers.

No one in the surrounding areas was injured or killed. It’s unclear what caused the plane to crash. The crash is currently being investigated by The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board.
