A mother was killed while three children were injured following a deadly DUI crash in Carmichael on Wednesday evening, December 29, 2021.

[12-29-2021] Sacramento County, CA - One Person Killed, Three Others Injured After a Fatal DUI Crash in CarmichaelThe fatal accident took place on Walnut Avenue near Kinross Road in Carmicheal at approximately 5:30 p.m.

A Kia Optima and a Ford Fusion collided head-on near Kinross Road. The Kia initially headed northbound towards the Kinross intersection while the Ford was traveling southbound. The Kia had three children in the backseat at the time of the accident.

Unfortunately, the Kia driver was killed in the crash. She was a 38-year-old mom from Carmichael. The three children in the Kia sustained serious injuries following the mishap; they were all taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Authorities suspect that alcohol intoxication may have played a role in the accident. The cause of the crash is still under further investigation.
