[09-17-2020] Alameda County, CA – Fiery Two-Vehicle Crash in Oakland Injures One Person

A 35-year-old Antioch resident sustained significant injuries after his vehicle collided with a truck in Oakland on Thursday morning, September 17.

The accident occurred on the inclined part of the northbound lanes of the 500 block of Hegenberger Road at approximately 7:45 a.m. A 2007 GMC Xfinity van driven by the Antioch resident rear-ended a City of Oakland flatbed truck in the southbound lanes near the off-ramp from Interstate 880. The van rolled down an embankment and caught fire. Officers stopped the van and put out the fire.

One person was trapped inside the van. The emergency personnel extricated him. The extricated victim sustained severe injuries from the accident. He was immediately taken to an area hospital to receive treatment. The second driver was reportedly uninjured.
