[05-07-2020] Alameda County, CA – Two Children Killed After a Fatal Multi-Vehicle Collision in Oakland

Two children were killed after a multi-vehicle traffic collision in Oakland on Thursday morning, May 7th.

Lakeshore AvenueAccording to the initial reports from the California Highway Patrol, the fatal collision occurred at around 11:30 a.m. on Interstate 580 near Lakeshore Avenue.

A white Honda Accord lost control and crashed into the rear of a white Ford F-250 that was initially parked in the center divider. The Honda was then hit by a white Toyota Sienna minivan.

The Ford F-250 was a rental vehicle used by Cal Trans. The passengers of the Ford F-250 were outside of the car conducting maintenance at the time of the collision.

Two children that were passengers of the Honda Accord sustained fatal injuries. The third child in the Honda Accord sustained moderate injuries while the female driver was severely injured and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital.

The two children from the Honda Accord later died due to the severity of their injuries.

Authorities believe that neither drugs nor alcohol was a factor in the fatal collision.

Multi-vehicle Accident Investigation is Underway
