Two people were injured after a major head-on traffic collision in Livermore on Wednesday morning, May 12.

Two unspecified vehicles collided head-on under unclear circumstances. Emergency personnel later arrived in the area and found a vehicle on top of the other car.

One person was trapped in the wreckage. Firefighters extricated the person from the vehicle.

The person that was trapped in the wreckage was airlifted to John Muir Medical Center with serious injuries. Another person was taken to Eden Medical Center via ambulance in an unknown condition.

The crash is currently under investigation. Local authorities will attempt to determine the cause of the accident and the liability.
