[07-29-2021] Contra Costa County, CA – Two-Vehicle Collision in Antioch Injures Five Children

Six people were injured, five of them were children, after a two-vehicle collision in Antioch on Thursday morning, July 29.

The accident occurred at approximately 7:00 a.m. on Highway 4, near Hillcrest Avenue in Antioch. A tan Toyota Camry and a pickup were involved in the collision. How the accident occurred, and the reason it happened has not been disclosed.

The female driver of the Camry was trapped inside the wreckage and had to be extricated by firefighters. Meanwhile, the five children in the Camry were able to escape the vehicle on their own. A total of six people were injured in the mishap.

Five of the injured parties were children aged between 2 to 11. The 2-year-old boy sustained a broken leg and was airlifted to a nearby hospital. Meanwhile, the other children and the Camry driver were transported via ambulance.

The driver of the truck was uninjured in the accident. It’s unclear whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. Local authorities are further investigating the cause of the accident.
