A 67-year-old man identified as Ronald Gillespie was killed when a vehicle crashed into his motorcycle in Placerville on Sunday afternoon, September 27.
The deadly crash occurred shortly after 3:20 p.m. at Gold Hill and Lotus Roads in Placerville. The victim was riding his 1997 Harley-Davidson northbound on lotus road when a 2002 Dodge Dakota pickup truck crashed into his motorcycle. The driver of the Dodge pickup truck was identified as 18-year-old Rafael Reynaga.
Authorities said that he had been stopped at a stop sign, at the Placerville intersection, then he pulled into the lane of the motorbike before the crash. The victim was ejected from his motorcycle due to the severity of the impact. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Both the occupants of the Dodge pickup were uninjured from the crash.
