A 69-year-old man identified as James Yates sustained injuries after a rear-end collision in Orland on Monday morning, August 24.
The accident took place on County Road 9 and First Avenue at approximately 8:20 a.m. Yates was driving his vehicle eastbound on County Road 9 and attempted to make a northbound turn onto First Avenue. The victim stopped his vehicle as he was about to turn when a 2004 Ford Ranger rear-ended his vehicle. The driver of the Ford Ranger was identified as an Orland resident named Loretta Howard.
Yates sustained moderate injuries as a result of the crash. He was immediately transported to Enloe Medical Center in Chico. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. Authorities don’t consider drugs or alcohol as factors in the crash.
