Fatal Motorcycle Accident Statistics
Riders of motorcycles are more exposed to road dangers because they lack the protection of seatbelts and airbags. Motorcycle mishaps can lead to life-threatening injuries or fatalities. According to the National Center for Statistics and Analysis of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 5,286 motorcycle fatalities in the United States in 2016.
Helmet use has been shown to reduce the risk of severe head injuries. Motorcycle helmet use was found to be 37% effective in preventing fatalities. Despite this, the rest of their bodies may still be at risk.
Riders are therefore urged always to wear helmets and other protective gear whenever they travel. By lessening the severity of head injuries in collisions, helmets save lives. If you’re in a motorcycle accident, you should call the police as soon as you can.
