[12-02-2020] Lake County, CA – Bicycle Accident in Lakeport Injures Kills One Man

An unidentified 47-year-old man sustained significant injuries after his bike was hit by a vehicle in Lakeport on Wednesday afternoon, December 2.

The accident took place on Lakeshore Boulevard near the Sutter Lakeside Hospital in Lakeport at approximately 1:55 p.m.

The bicycle rider was reportedly riding his bike southbound Lakeshore Boulevard when a white 2005 Kia Sorrento crashed into the bicyclist.

The bicycle rider was ejected onto the roadway due to the severity of the impact. He sustained life-threatening injuries from the accident. The driver of the Kia did not stop to render aid and fled the scene.

Despite the paramedics’ life-saving measures, the man was later pronounced dead.

Authorities were able to locate and arrest the hit-and-run driver a few hours after the accident. The driver was identified as 33-year-old Amber Bruhn. Drugs and alcohol were not seen as factors in the accident.
