A 59-year-old Clearlake resident identified as Curtis Knight was killed after getting struck by a hit-and-run driver in Lower Lake on Thursday morning, October 16.

[10-16-2020] Lake County, CA - Fatal Lower Lake Hit-and-Run Accident Kills OneAccording to the California Highway Patrol’s initial reports, the accident happened at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Highway 29, just south of Orchard Street. The victim was attempting to cross the road from the west side of the road at Power Mart towards the east side when he was suddenly struck by a passing vehicle.

He was hit in the number 2 northbound lane of Highway 53. The driver that struck the pedestrian fled the scene. Paramedics found the victim unconscious while lying on the side of the roadway. The victim was immediately taken to Adventist Health Clear Lake Hospital, where he later was pronounced dead.

Authorities have not released any information about the driver’s description and his vehicle.
