A multi-vehicle wrong-way collision in Long Beach resulted in two people’s death on Saturday morning, October 31.
The deadly multi-vehicle accident happened on San Diego (405) Freeway in Long Beach at around 3:50 a.m. Around nine vehicles were involved in the crash. One of the cars was reportedly driving on the wrong side of the roadway, which triggered the crash.
The wrong-way driver was identified as 23-year-old Kaylee Perez. She was driving a light-colored sedan. The sedan had another occupant who was later identified as Manasseh Marion.
It is unclear why Perez was driving in the opposite lane. Both the sedan driver and her occupant sustained fatal injuries from the crash. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
A total of seven people were injured as a result of the collision. Two patients were seriously injured while five others sustained minor injuries. All of them were taken to an area hospital to receive treatment.
Fatal Wrong-Way Multi-Vehicle Crash Investigation is Underway
Local authorities are further investigating the case.
Multi-vehicle collisions can result in extreme vehicular damage and death. A car accident is classified as a multi-vehicle collision when three or more vehicles are involved. This type of car accident is commonly caused by a “chain reaction,” when one car bumps into another, which causes the other to hit the next vehicle.
Multi-vehicle collisions are commonly caused by drunk driving, speeding, reckless and distracted driving. It can be quite challenging to pinpoint liability during a multi-vehicle collision investigation, so it is essential to hire an experienced Los Angeles County wrongful death attorney to conduct an independent investigation.
Attorneys have decades of experience and can help the victim’s family in many ways. They can re-interview important witnesses, review relevant surveillance footage from the scene, and obtain the responsible party’s phone and texting records.
