An 18-month-old-boy, identified as Gerardo Sebastian Chavez M., became a tragic victim of a hit-and-run collision that occurred in Block 15500 on West Nordhoff Street on October 17, Sunday.

According to a Los Angeles police spokesman, the 2016 Honda CRV was traveling west on Nordhoff when it collided with the gray Toyota Camry while making a left turn.

The two victims were standing near a food truck on the southeast corner of the intersection when the Honda jumped over the curb, according to the LAPD. The car then slammed into the woman and the boy’s stroller, pushing him against a retaining wall. Both victims were immediately rushed to the hospital, where Morales was later pronounced dead.

Morales was with his grandparents at the time of the accident, who were both uninjured. The Honda driver will not be charged, while the identity of the driver of the Toyota Camry, who fled the scene, has yet to be disclosed. Local authorities are still investigating the situation.
