Fatal Pedestrian Accident Statistics

Pedestrians are probably one of the most vulnerable users on the road. They have no form of protection in case an accident occurs, which is why most pedestrian accidents result in serious injury and death. Sadly, pedestrian accidents have been increasing at an alarming rate in the United States over the past 33 years.

According to the Governors Highway Safety Association, pedestrian fatalities in the U.S. have increased by 27 percent from 2007-2016, while other traffic-related deaths decreased by 14 percent. When compared to other states, statistics show that California is particularly dangerous for pedestrians.

In 2018, 893 pedestrians were killed, and 14,000 were injured on California roads. Driver negligence, speeding, and failure to yield to pedestrians are all common causes of pedestrian accidents. It is critical to seek the advice of an experienced attorney when dealing with cases like this.

Los Angeles County Wrongful Death Attorney for Victims of Fatal Pedestrian Accidents

Suddenly losing a loved one from a fatal pedestrian accident may leave the victim’s family overwhelmed with stress and grief. This may cause them to be easily manipulated by insurance companies. These insurance companies do not work for you. Their goal is to convince you to settle for an amount that is a lot less than the actual value of your claim.

It is critical to seek help from an experienced attorney to avoid this from happening. An attorney can assist the victim’s family in filing a wrongful death claim, which allows them to seek compensation for the damages caused by the accident. Loss of income, funeral expenses, pain and suffering, and emotional distress are all examples of damages.
