Fatal Multi-Vehicle Collision Statistics

Car accidents can result in permanent and sometimes fatal consequences. To avoid this, all drivers are recommended to drive responsibly. Traffic collisions are unfortunately not uncommon in the United States. In 2018, there were approximately 33,654 fatal motor vehicle collisions. Thirty-six thousand five hundred sixty persons perished in deadly car accidents in that year.

In this case, a multi-vehicle collision transpired. This type of collision involves three or more vehicles. It’s usually a result of a “chain-reaction” crash in which one vehicle collides with another, potentially causing the other vehicle to crash into other motorists. Some common reasons why these accidents occur are low visibility, congested roadways, poor road conditions, and bad weather. With congested traffic, it’s difficult for many people to notice when they should brake to avoid a possible collision or objects on the road.
