[09-12-2021] Mendocino County, CA – One Person Killed, 4 Others Injured After a Head-On Crash on Highway 101

One person was killed while four others were injured after a deadly head-on collision on Highway 101 on Sunday morning, September 12.

[09-12-2021] Mendocino County, CA - One Person Killed, 4 Others Injured After a Head-On Crash on Highway 101The fatal accident happened on the southbound side of Highway 101, just north of Ridgewood scale facility, at around 11:04 a.m. A northbound 2000 Acura Integra was traveling on Highway 101 at around 70 mph when it suddenly veered across the double yellow lines and into the southbound lane.

The 2000 Acura then collided head-on with an oncoming southbound 2009 Dodge Ram pickup that was also driving at 70 mph. Due to the severity of the impact, the Dodge crashed into a guardrail and overturned in No. 2 of the highway.

The occupants of the Dodge were extricated by emergency personnel. The Dodge driver was seriously injured in the mishap while her three passengers, a 9-year-old boy and two girls, ages 7 and 4, sustained minor injuries. They were all taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Acura was fatally injured in the crash. He was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene. Drugs and alcohol were not considered as factors in the collision.

Local authorities are further investigating the case. Witnesses that can provide additional information about the accident are urged to call all the CHP’s Ukiah Area office at 707-467-4420.
