[10-01-2021] Merced County, CA – One Person Killed, Several Others Injured After a Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 152

A 64-year-old man identified as William A. was killed while several others were injured after a fatal two-vehicle collision at an intersection in Merced County on Friday night, October 1st.

[10-01-2021] Merced County, CA - One Person Killed, Several Others Injured After a Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 152The deadly collision occurred at the intersection of Highway 152 and Palm Avenue at approximately 8:38 p.m. A southbound 2018 Kenworth two-axle big rig was hauling a set of double trailers carrying tomatoes was traveling on Palm Avenue when the driver attempted to cross eastbound Highway 152.

Meanwhile, an eastbound 2021 Toyota Camry driving on Highway 152 swerved to the left to avoid the 2018 Kenworth big rig. Unfortunately, the Toyota crashed into the middle of the number two trailer and became wedged underneath.

The 2018 Kenworth big rig driver, who was identified as 51-year-old Pedro R., immediately pulled to the highway’s right shoulder and called 911. A passenger in the right-rear seat of the Toyota sustained minor injuries and was rushed to Memorial Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, Ainsworth, who was also a passenger in the Toyota, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another person sustained significant injuries and was rushed to Memorial Hospital in Modesto for treatment. The big rig driver was uninjured in the mishap. Drugs and alcohol were not suspected to be factors in the crash. Local authorities are further investigating the case.
