Motorcycle Accident Statistics
Motorcycle accidents often lead to serious injuries and, in some cases, even death. Motorcyclists are highly vulnerable in collisions and can easily sustain catastrophic and fatal injuries. From road rash and traumatic tattooing to head and brain injuries, the dangers that motorcyclists face on the road every day are undeniable.
According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) statistics, motorcycle riders have 16 times the risk of injury and 35 times the risk of a fatal crash compared to car passengers.
But there is a way to avoid sustaining fatal injuries in the event of a traffic accident. Motorcycle riders are encouraged to dress appropriately and wear a helmet every time they ride their motorcycle to prevent catastrophic injuries. Wearing helmets were estimated to be 37% effective in preventing motorcycle deaths.
