A 40-year-old man identified as Adrian C. was killed after a multi-vehicle traffic collision near Yosemite Avenue on Sunday night, May 23.

[05-23-2021] Merced County, CA - One Person Killed After a Fatal Multi-Vehicle Collision Near Yosemite AvenueThe deadly collision transpired at approximately 8:38 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Lake Road near Yosemite Avenue, just outside of Merced City. Three vehicles were reportedly involved in the collision. A 2001 Honda Accord was traveling at a speed of 40-50 mph.

As the Honda Accord was approaching the rear of a 2014 Honda Accord driving behind a stopped 2018 Dodge Durango at the intersection, the 2001 Honda Accord failed to stop in time for unclear reasons. The 2001 Honda Accord then rear-ended the 2014 Honda Accord, which sparked a chain-reaction collision. The 2014 Honda Accord then crashed into the 2018 Dodge Durango.

One person was trapped in the wreckage and was rushed to Mercy Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. The 2014 Honda driver and two other passengers from the vehicle sustained minor injuries and were also taken to Mercy Medical Center for treatment. Local authorities are further investigating the case.
