[11-02-2020] Merced County, CA – One Person Killed After a Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Golden State Boulevard

An unidentified 27-year-old man from Turlock was killed due to a fatal pedestrian accident in Merced on Monday morning, November 2.

According to the local authorities’ initial reports, the fatal accident transpired at around 4:54 a.m. on Golden State Boulevard just north of Griffith Avenue.

The unidentified Turlock resident was initially involved in another incident north of Daubenger Road.

The Turlock man went out of his vehicle and was later struck by a Toyota Tacoma traveling south at around 50 mph. The Toyota driver attempted to move away from the pedestrian but could not completely avoid him in time. The pedestrian was fatally injured in the accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Toyota driver remained at the scene and dialed 911. The driver cooperated with local authorities. He was uninjured from the mishap. It is unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the deadly accident.
