A 61-year-old woman identified as Kyu C. was killed after a car crash involving a DUI driver in Irvine on early Monday morning, September 27.

[09-27-2021] Orange County, CA - One Person Killed After a Deadly DUI Crash in IrvineThe deadly collision transpired at approximately 4:00 a.m. in Sand Canyon Avenue and Irvine Center Drive. A Prius and a Mercedes-Benz collided on the roadway under unclear circumstances. One person was killed as a result of the collision.

Authorities later determined that the Mercedes driver, who was identified as Luis Marcial D., was under the influence at the time of the accident. The Mercedes driver was then arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

The intersection was temporarily shut down to give way for the cleanup and investigation. Information about the crash is limited at the moment.
