[08-11-2020] Orange County, CA – One Person Killed in a Fatal Pedestrian Accident in Anaheim

A 23-year-old woman from Anaheim was getting struck by an alleged drunk driver in Katella Avenue on Tuesday evening, August 11. The woman was 35 weeks pregnant at the time of the accident.

According to the initial reports from local authorities, the fatal accident occurred at around 7:30 p.m. The victim was walking with her husband in the area of Katella Avenue and Bayless Street when she was suddenly struck by a white Jeep SUV, barely missing her husband.

The driver of the white Jeep SUV was identified as 40-year-old Courtney Pandolfi. She was allegedly driving while under the influence, which led her to lose control of the vehicle later and struck the victim. The woman was immediately taken to the UCI Medical Center but was later pronounced dead.

The victim’s baby is in critical condition and is currently in UCI’s neonatal intensive care unit. The suspect sustained minor injuries and was treated at an area hospital. She was later arrested on suspicion of felony DUI, vehicular manslaughter and driving on a suspended license. The suspect also had two previous DUI cases.
