[12-28-2020] Placer County, CA – One Person Killed After Head-On Crash in Lincoln

A 68-year-old man identified as John Haugen was killed after a head-on traffic collision in Lincoln on Monday morning, December 28.

The accident happened at the intersection of Athens Avenue and North Foothills Boulevard at approximately 11:29 a.m. A Chevy SUV driven by Haugen was initially traveling eastbound on Athens Avenue when, for unclear reasons, it drifted into the westbound lanes. A white Ford utility truck traveling westbound then collided head-on with the Chevy SUV.

Local authorities speculate that Haugens may have had a medical emergency at the time of the accident. Paramedics later arrived at the scene and found Haugens unresponsive in the driver’s seat. Haugen was later declared dead at the scene. The Ford driver sustained minor injuries from the crash and was taken to Sutter Roseville Medical Center for treatment.

Fatal Head-On Crash Investigation is Underway

The factors that may have caused the accident has not been established. Local authorities are currently investigating the case.
