[10-13-2020] Placer County, CA – Two-Vehicle Collision in Granite Bay Results in One Death

A 92-year-old woman identified as Dolores Nelson was killed after a two-vehicle traffic collision in Granite Bay on Tuesday afternoon, October 13.

The fatal collision happened at around 1:20 p.m. at the intersection of Auburn Folsom Road and Eureka Road near Folsom Lake. A dark red 2017 Toyota Prius occupied by Nelson was heading southbound when it stopped at the intersection for a traffic light. It was then suddenly rear-ended by a speeding 2016 Volkswagen Jetta.

The Prius was pushed across the sidewalk, through a concrete perimeter wall before stopping due to the severity of the impact. The unidentified Prius driver and Nelson sustained severe injuries from the crash. They were immediately rushed to Sutter Roseville Medical Center for treatment.

Nelson later succumbed to her injuries in the hospital, and she was pronounced dead.

Two-Vehicle Collision Investigation is Underway

Local authorities are currently investigating the crash. Drugs and alcohol were not considered as factors in the accident.
