[11-02-20] Riverside County, CA – Multi-Vehicle Crash in Desert Hot Springs Kills One

A 23-year-old man identified as Raul Silva-Chavez was killed after a multi-vehicle traffic collision in Desert Hot Springs on Monday afternoon, November 2.

According to the California Highway Patrol’s initial reports, the crash occurred on Palm Drive, south of 20th Avenue, at around 12:15 p.m.

Five cars were involved in the collision. Chavez was driving a Nissan 350Z southbound when his vehicle crashed head-on with a pickup truck and three other vehicles following behind the pickup truck.

One of the vehicles involved, a Hyundai Elantra, caught fire after the collision. The driver of the car was uninjured. Chavez sustained life-threatening injuries from the crash. He was rushed to Desert Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

The reason why the crash occurred and the liability has not been established.
