One person was killed after a hit-and-run collision in Moreno Valley on Tuesday night, May 25th.

[05-25-2021] Riverside County, CA - One Person Killed After a Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident in Moreno ValleyThe deadly collision took place near the intersection of Iris Avenue and Camino Flores at around 11:47 p.m.

A westbound gold Toyota Camry was traveling on Iris Avenue when it entered the intersection and failed to stop for a posted stop sign. A BMW that was turning left from Iris Avenue then struck the driver’s side of the Toyota.

The Toyota then veered off the roadway and into a light pole, causing it to burst into flames. The BMW driver exited his car and fled the scene on foot.

Firefighters attempted to extinguish the flames and spent the next four hours cutting off the destroyed vehicle’s roof. They were later able to gain access inside the vehicle and pull out the sole occupant.

Unfortunately, the Toyota driver did not survive his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the BMW driver was later determined.

He was identified as 21-year-old Jamal M. He was later arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run. Anyone that can give more information about the accident is urged to call Deputy Dustin D. with the Sheriff’s Department at 951-486-6887.
