[10-29-2021] Sacramento County, CA – Two Women Killed After a Car Crashes into a Pop-Up Sports Shop in North Highlands

Two women were killed after the tent they were under in was struck by a vehicle in North Highlands on Friday afternoon, October 29.

According to the initial reports from local authorities, the crash happened at around 3:30 p.m. in a pop-up shop selling professional sports gear in North Highlands. A silver Hyundai Elantra was initially driving westbound on Don Julio, approaching Watt, when the driver attempted to make a yellow light while turning left to head south on Watt.

Unfortunately, the Hyundai driver lost control of her vehicle and hit two women standing within the vending area of a pop-up shop. The Hyundai Elantra was going at around 40 mph to 60 mph at the time of the accident.

The two women that were struck were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver that struck the pedestrians remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. The driver was not intoxicated at the time of the accident. No arrests have been made. Local authorities are further investigating the fatal crash.
