One unidentified person was killed after getting hit by a deputy patrol car on Franklin Road on Thursday night, October 28.
The crash transpired at approximately 10:43 p.m. in the area of Franklin Boulevard near Percheron Drive. A deputy was driving in a sheriff’s patrol vehicle when he suddenly struck the pedestrian. According to two witnesses, the pedestrian was reportedly in the middle of the road with “their back to oncoming traffic,” according to two witnesses.
The deputy remained at the scene and immediately gave the pedestrian medical aid before the first responders arrived at the scene. The pedestrian was then rushed to an area hospital for treatment.
The pedestrian was listed in critical condition throughout the night, and he, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries on the next day. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. The identity of the pedestrian has not been disclosed.
Information about the crash is limited at the moment. The California Highway Patrol is further investigating the crash.
