A 6-year-old boy and a 28-year-old woman were killed after a fatal multi-vehicle traffic collision in Cajon Pass on Sunday evening, October 18.
The deadly collision happened at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Cajon Boulevard, just north of Keenbrook Road. A blue Chevrolet Suburban was initially traveling on the northbound lanes when it suddenly crossed over the double yellow lines and drove into the opposite traffic lane.
The Suburban then crashed head-on into a silver Toyota Camry. Later on, another vehicle, a grey Nissan Titan, traveled on the southbound lanes on Cajon Boulevard when it smashed into the Suburban as it rolled into the opposing traffic lanes.
A southbound white Ford F-150 reportedly crashed into the Camry as well. The Camry driver, along with a six-year-old occupant of the Suburban, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Suburban was ejected from her vehicle. She sustained critical injuries due to the crash and was taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center. Local authorities later arrested her on charges of driving drunk and causing bodily injury.
Fatal Multi-Vehicle Collision Investigation is Underway
The California Highway Patrol is currently investigating the fatal accident.
Multi-vehicle collisions can result in extreme vehicular damage and death. A car accident is classified as a multi-vehicle collision when three or more vehicles are involved. This type of car accident is commonly caused by a “chain reaction,” when one car bumps into another, which causes the other to hit the next vehicle.
Multi-vehicle collisions are commonly caused by drunk driving, speeding, reckless and distracted driving. It can be quite challenging to pinpoint liability during a multi-vehicle collision investigation, so it is essential to hire an experienced San Bernardino County wrongful death attorney to conduct an independent investigation.
Attorneys have decades of experience and can help the victim’s family in many ways. They can re-interview important witnesses, review relevant surveillance footage from the scene, and obtain the responsible party’s phone and texting records.
