Eight people, including a 3-year-old, sustained varying degrees of injury after a major car crash in Lincoln Park on Tuesday afternoon, November 2, 2021.

A Mustang drove through a red light in the Lincoln Park neighborhood and broadsided another vehicle. The Mustang then crashed into a nearby restaurant, injuring several people, including a three-year-old.

Eight people were injured due to the collision—the driver and passenger in the sedan and six restaurant customers, including the 3-year-old child. Six people were seriously injured, while the other two sustained minor to moderate injuries.

The 3-year-old child was rushed to Rady Children’s Hospital, while the five other injured victims were taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital. The remaining patients were taken to UC Medical Center.

The Mustang driver reportedly ran away from the scene on foot after the crash, but local authorities later apprehended her. She is facing a felony hit-and-run charge. The case is currently under further investigation.
