[07-20-2021] San Diego County, CA – Fatal Bicycle Accident in Balboa Park Results in One Death

One person was killed after a deadly bicycle accident in Balboa Park on Tuesday morning, July 20.

The major crash occurred on Pershing Drive near Florida Drive in Balboa Park at approximately 7:30 a.m. The victim was riding his bicycle on the roadway when a passing vehicle suddenly struck him. How the crash occurred, and the reason it happened have not been established.

Emergency personnel later arrived at the scene and found the bicyclist unresponsive on the roadway. The bicyclist was rushed to an area hospital where he was sadly later pronounced dead. The driver that struck the bicyclist remained at the scene and willingly cooperated with authorities.

The identities of the involved parties have not been disclosed. The accident is currently under further investigation. Authorities will attempt to determine whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
