[01-07-2021] San Diego County, CA – One Person Killed in a Deadly San Marcos Pedestrian Accident

An unidentified 22-year-old man from Vista was killed after getting hit by a passing vehicle in San Marcos on Thursday morning, January 7.

The accident happened at approximately 6:00 a.m. on Highway 78 near Palomar College in San Marcos.

The unidentified Vista man was initially involved in a solo car crash. He was driving a 2007 Ford Focus eastbound when he suddenly struck a metal guardrail and veered off the roadway before plunging down an embankment.

The Vista man then left his vehicle and climbed back up the slope, possibly to get help. He walked onto the freeway where an eastbound 2017 Toyota Camry, unfortunately, struck him. The Vista man was pronounced dead at the scene.
