Fatal Train Accident Statistics
Everyone’s lives are made easier thanks to public transportation. If you want to get around the city without worrying about parking and gas, taking public transport is the cheapest and most convenient option. Unfortunately, the number of accidents involving public transportation vehicles is increasing.
According to data provided by the Department of Transportation, approximately 5,800 train-car collisions occur in the United States each year, with the majority of these occurring at railroad crossings. Bus and train accidents typically involve lots of people and result in multiple injuries or fatalities. There are a few different parties that may be liable for your injuries after a public transit accident. If a negligent driver caused your crash, they may be personally responsible for your damages.
Since 1997, more than 7,200 pedestrian railway-related deaths have been reported in the United States of America alone. Thus, pedestrian railroad accidents are among the leading causes of death on U.S. railroads, according to the National Transportation Safety Board. Pedestrian railroad accidents can be caused by various factors, including negligence, outdated technology, unprotected rail access, poor visibility, and a speeding train.
