An unidentified pedestrian was killed after getting struck by a train in Carlsbad on Monday morning, July 26.

A northbound Amtrack Pacific Surfliner train struck the pedestrian under unclear circumstances. Why the man was in the train tracks at the time of the accident is currently unknown.

The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries from the mishap. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been disclosed.

The North County Transit District dispatched buses to pick up train passengers who had been stranded due to the accident. No other injuries were reported.
