Head-On Collision Statistics

A head-on accident occurs when two cars collide directly with each other while going in opposing directions. Head-on collisions have a higher fatality rate than other types of car accidents. Only about 123,000 head-on crashes occur in the United States each year, but they account for 10.1 percent of all fatal wrecks.

Car accidents may happen to anyone. This is a tragic reality that drivers must bear in mind. Unfortunately, motor vehicle accidents in California have been on the rise in recent years. California is responsible for 11% of all car accident fatalities in the United States.

In this case, the accident was caused by a reckless driver. Under the California Vehicle Code Section 23103, a reckless driver is defined as someone “who drives a vehicle upon a highway with willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property.” Reckless driving can involve several different behaviors and poor decisions.
