A 17-year-old boy was killed after a deadly multi-vehicle collision on Highway 1 on Saturday morning, September 11.

[09-11-2021] San Luis Obispo County, CA - Teen Killed After a Deadly Multi-Vehicle Collision on Highway 1The fatal collision happened in the area of Highway 1 and Highland Drive at approximately 6:45 a.m. The 17-year-old boy was driving a 1990 Volvo that was stopped at a red light. The Volvo then proceeded to enter the intersection at a green light.

The Volvo was then struck by a 2010 Ford F-150 pickup truck that ran a red light. Due to the severity of the impact, the Ford then crashed into a 2006 BMW 750. The 17-year-old Volvo driver sustained life-threatening injuries in the mishap. He was rushed to the Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The Ford F-150 driver was seriously injured and was taken to a French Hospital for treatment. He was identified as 79-year-old Bryan Griffiths from Morro Bay. Meanwhile, the BMW driver sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

His identity has not been disclosed. Local authorities are further investigating the cause of the accident. Witnesses that can give more information about the accident are urged to call Officer J. Jennings at 805-594-8700.
