[07-03-2020] Santa Cruz, CA – Four-Vehicle Crash on Highway 1 Injures Several People

Several people sustained varying degrees of injury after a four-vehicle traffic collision in Highway 1 on Friday afternoon, July 3rd.

Harkins Slough Road and Highway 1According to the initial reports from the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at around 1:00 p.m.

A truck carrying a disc harrow made an emergency stop on the shoulder of Highway 1 after its disk harrow broke, which caused a fire. A Mercedes, a Chevy Silverado, and a Chevy 2500 heading southbound stopped behind the truck.

Moments later, a Ford Transit van failed to stop at the right time and rear-ended the Mercedes. The impact then led to a chain reaction collision.

The drivers of the Chevrolet and the Chevy Silverado sustained severe injuries. The total number of people injured is currently unspecified. Authorities do not consider drugs or alcohol as a factor in the crash.
