[10-30-2020] Santa Cruz, CA – One Killed After a Fatal Bicycle Crash in Rio Del Mar

An unidentified 48-year-old Aptos resident was killed due to a fatal bicycle accident in Rio Del Mar on Friday afternoon, October 30.

According to the California Highway Patrol’s initial reports, the accident transpired around 12:20 p.m. on Rio Del Mar Boulevard.

The unidentified man was riding his bicycle westbound on the roadway when, for unexplained reasons, he lost control of his bike. He then crashed into a Toyota Avalon and a Chevrolet pickup parked at Rio Del Mar Esplanade.

Due to the severity of the impact, the rider was ejected from his bike. He was rushed to a Santa Clara medical center, where he was later pronounced dead. Additional information about the accident is limited at the moment.
