A 34-year-old man was hurt after a suspected DUI driver crashed into the victim’s vehicle in Petaluma on Tuesday morning, August 25.
According to the local authorities’ initial reports, the collision occurred at around 5:41 a.m. on Adobe Road near Sonoma Parkway. A Toyota Camry was initially heading westbound along the highway when it suddenly swerved into the opposite lane, causing the Toyota to collide head-on with a Ford C-Max.
Both the Toyota and the Ford driver sustained injuries from the wreck; they were taken to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital to receive treatment.
Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries two days after the accident and passed away.
DUI Crash Investigation is Underway
Local authorities are currently investigating the crash. It is evident that the liability falls on the suspect as he was proven to be driving while under the influence of drugs.
Driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol is one of the most reckless and irresponsible things a driver can do. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 18 percent of all motor vehicle driver deaths in the U.S. involve drugs and alcohol.
