Two police officers were injured after a car driven by a suspected drunk driver crashed into their vehicle in Petaluma’s Crown area on Thursday afternoon, September 10.
According to the initial reports from the California Highway Patrol, the collision transpired at around 1:21 p.m. in the area of Sonoma Mountain Parkway and Maria Drive. The suspect reportedly lost control of his 2006 Lincoln pickup truck on Maria Drive just south of Sonoma Mountain Parkway. He hit a fence and ended up facing northbound. The suspect then accelerated north and crashed into two patrol cars. The second patrol intentionally collided with the suspect in an attempt to stop him.
The two officers suffered minor to moderate injuries. Both of them are in stable condition now. The suspect was taken into custody and brought to the hospital to receive treatment for his injuries. He was then later booked into Sonoma County jail. He was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI, felony evading a peace officer, assault with a deadly weapon, and probation violation.
