[04-08-2020] Tulare, CA – Teenager Dead After a Truck-Pedestrian Accident in Traver

An 18-year-old boy was killed after getting struck by a semi-tractor-trailer on northbound Highway 99 last Wednesday evening, April 8th. 

According to the initial reports from the California Highway Patrol, the teen was driving his 2009 Honda on Highway 99. He later pulled over and parked his car on the side of the highway, just south of Merritt Drive, to fix his flat tire. The teen reportedly went down his vehicle, and at approximately 7:42 p.m., the victim was struck by a semi-truck. 

The driver of the semi-truck was identified as a 41-year-old man named Richard Vargas. 

Unfortunately, the unidentified teen died at the scene. The semi-truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the local authorities.
