A 53-year-old man identified as Lusi C. was killed after a deadly head-on collision in Porterville on Saturday evening, November 6, 2021.
The crash happened at approximately 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 65 and Tea Pot Dome Avenue in Porterville.
The 53-year-old man was driving his black GMC Canyon pickup southbound in the northbound lanes for unclear reasons. He then collided head-on with an oncoming white Dodge Caravan.
The two involved vehicles were traveling at 65 miles per hour at the time of the accident. Full and empty beer cans were found in the GMC Canyon pickup.
The 53-year-old man driving the GMC Canyon pickup was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the Dodge driver was seriously injured in the crash and was airlifted to Kaweah Health.
Authorities believe that alcohol may have played a role in the crash. Local authorities are further investigating the case. Witnesses that can give more information about the accident are urged to call the Porterville Police Department Traffic Unit at (559) 782-7400.
